Position Summary

Dogwood Industries is in search of a proficient and highly capable Material Handling Specialist for our manufacturing facility. The primary responsibility of the Material Handling Specialist is to ensure the safe and effective receipt and storage of materials utilized in our production processes, which include substantial structural steel components and finished goods weighing between 1,000 lbs and 30,000 lbs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely unload materials from incoming delivery vehicles
  • Transport and distribute materials throughout the production area
  • Perform general shipping and receiving tasks, maintain storage areas, and ensure cleanliness of the yard
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in material handling, preferably in an industrial environment managing heavy materials
  • Proficient in reading and writing in English
  • Familiarity with various types of material handling equipment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification

Physical Demands

The physical requirements outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully execute the essential functions of this role. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to maintain full mobility in both upper and lower body, reach overhead, and work in various positions including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting. The employee must be capable of using hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; and maintain balance for extended periods. The role requires the ability to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned tasks, with the capability to lift up to 70 pounds. The employee will encounter typical shop conditions such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors. This position necessitates physical activity involving somewhat strenuous daily tasks in a primarily production-oriented environment.

The Material Handling Specialist will spend a considerable amount of time outdoors and must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions.

Compensation

$34.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
