Job Title: Emergency Services Director

University of New Mexico - Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Services Director to lead our team in providing exceptional patient care and services.

Job Summary:

The Emergency Services Director will be responsible for the overall operations, implementation, and evaluation of activities for providing emergency services at UNMH. This includes fiscal management, strategic planning, standards compliance, clinical practice, staff development, and performance improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Management: Organize and direct clinical practice in collaboration with the program medical director, developing and implementing practice guidelines per recognized standards.
  • Patient Care: Provide direct patient care as necessary for evaluation of department services, evaluation of patient outcomes, and adjusting patient care processes to ensure optimal care.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with resources to ensure optimal and efficient accounting operations for purchases, payment for services, and prior authorizations.
  • Supervision: Ensure staff orientation, credentialing, competency completion, and continuing education.
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate documentation of information related to patient care activities, regulatory requirements, data collection, and statistical reporting.
  • Reports: Prepare reports, proposals, and related documents for administrative/service needs, such as contract negotiations and program status reports.
  • Safety: Maintain current knowledge of industry safety and perform ongoing assessment of the environment for safety compliance.
  • Performance: Develop and implement better performance strategies and clinical management competence.
Requirements:
  • Education: Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Experience: 5 years of directly related experience.
  • Credentials: RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement, CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider, and TNCC, ENPC, APLS, NALS, ACLS, ATLS, or related certifications.
Working Conditions:

Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Med Haz: Moderate exposure to chemicals/dangerous equipment/materials.
