The Division prioritizes student and family engagement, transparency, and data-driven decision-making.

About the Position:

The Student Financial Support Advisor plays a crucial role in guiding students and their families through the financial aid landscape. This position is responsible for advising on financial aid eligibility, application processes, available funding options, and financial management strategies. The Advisor manages a diverse caseload, ensuring accurate application reviews and determining financial need and award packages. Community outreach and participation in information sessions and student orientations are also key responsibilities. A comprehensive understanding of Federal Title IV, State, and institutional financial aid regulations is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students and families in navigating the financial aid process;
  • Manage a caseload, providing guidance on eligibility, application procedures, and financial management strategies;
  • Review applications for accuracy and verification to assess financial need and award packages;
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Federal Title IV, State, and institutional financial aid regulations while multitasking in a high-volume environment;
  • Conduct financial aid data reviews, verification, awarding, and packaging of student financial aid files;
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, demonstrating patience and understanding to students and families seeking financial aid;
  • Analyze reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional rules regarding financial aid packaging;
  • Track documents, run needs analysis, and complete verification as necessary;
  • Review and process professional judgment appeals and ensure accurate repackaging after appeals;
  • Utilize federal resources to assess aid eligibility;
  • Review summer aid applications and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance;
  • Engage in community outreach and provide financial aid guidance, including participation in information sessions and orientations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal student aid regulations;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Commitment to providing high-quality service to students and families;
  • Ability to manage communications effectively and work collaboratively;
  • Capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree preferred;
  • Familiarity with Ellucian Banner financial aid software.
