Job Title: Registered Dietitian II Trauma

At the University of Maryland Medical System, we are seeking a highly skilled Registered Dietitian II to join our team in the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing medical nutrition therapy to adults with complex trauma injuries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide medical nutrition therapy to adults with trauma injuries, utilizing evidence-based practice and research to inform your care.
  • Participate in teaching rounds in neuro-trauma and multi-trauma ICUs, rotating services quarterly to maintain competence across various populations.
  • Engage in research, quality assurance initiatives, and lead clinical research to stay at the forefront of trauma nutrition.
  • Discuss nutrition care plans with patients and families, documenting plans and education electronically.
  • Contribute to teamwork, cooperate with peers, and attend staff meetings to achieve department goals.
  • Provide education and training to healthcare team members and dietetic interns, advancing their development.
  • Attend in-service training, continuing education, and external workshops to maintain licensure and integrate evidence into practice.
  • Participate in weekend and on-call rotations, averaging 4-5 weekends annually.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.
  • Registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR).
  • Current licensure in Maryland as a Dietitian/Nutritionist.
  • Preferred four years of clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian in a hospital, including completion of UMMC initial review.
  • Preferred completion of a Specialty Fellowship Program or Specialty Certification in Nutrition Support.
