Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the Chicago Public Schools' REACH Framework for School Counselors.
  • Conduct annual needs assessments and data reviews to determine and prioritize student needs, creating targeted program goals aligned to schoolwide goals, mission, and vision.
  • Implement the school counseling core curriculum, designing and conducting learning activities in classroom, large group, and/or school-wide settings to facilitate the infusion of school counseling as an integral component of the total education curriculum.
  • Provide individual student planning activities, collaborating with students, staff, and families to create academic plans resulting in successful diploma and post-secondary option attainment.
  • Offer responsive services to address students' barriers to academic achievement, including facilitation of small groups, individual counseling sessions, and participation in building-level student assistance teams.
  • Provide indirect student support, including referrals to district and community resources, sharing strategies with parents, teachers, and community organizations, and serving as a student advocate to promote student development.
  • Participate in regular professional development to stay current with evidenced-based practices in the field, participating in district, state, and national professional development, and engaging in continuing education coursework.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in school counseling.
  • Current ISBE Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Counseling Endorsement.

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, able to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and navigate complex systems to ensure student success.
