Position Overview:
The Patient Care Technician will be a vital part of the healthcare team, providing essential support in the orthopedic surgical unit. Responsibilities will encompass a variety of patient care activities and the execution of nursing care plans as directed by the Registered Nurse (RN).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with patient care tasks and implement nursing care plans as instructed by the RN, while promptly recognizing and reporting any changes in patient conditions.
  • Ensure patient care areas and unit supplies are adequately stocked and maintained according to unit policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment within the patient care area.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulatory standards and maintain knowledge through ongoing education to ensure compliance. Report any breaches of standards and contribute to improvement initiatives.
  • Perform basic treatments, including passive range of motion exercises, simple dressing changes, and skin care.
  • Conduct blood glucose meter checks and quality control checks as per unit protocols.
  • Provide selected patient care activities under RN supervision, such as bathing, feeding, and assisting with daily living activities. Document vital signs and other care activities as needed.
  • Recognize changes in patients' conditions and communicate variances to the RN or LPN.
  • May be responsible for patient video monitoring, ensuring continuous visual observation, redirecting patients as necessary, and reporting concerns to nursing staff.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
Three 12-hour shifts per week, day shift.

Location:
Downtown Campus.

Compensation and Benefits:
Shift differentials for evening and night shifts are available. The position offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including paid vacation, sick leave, health, dental, life, and disability insurance options, along with generous employer contributions to retirement plans. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified applicants.
