POSITION OVERVIEW
The Middle School Program Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering a safe and engaging environment for youth during after-school hours. This position requires building meaningful connections with participants, parents, and staff while ensuring the program meets the needs of the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Establishing and nurturing positive relationships with children, parents, volunteers, and colleagues; greeting youth by name to create a welcoming atmosphere.
  2. Maintaining regular communication with the Site Coordinator regarding program operations and expectations.
  3. Assisting in the recruitment, planning, supervision, and management of students and daily activities.
  4. Leading and supervising program participants in alignment with YMCA standards across all areas of the facility and during activities.
  5. Ensuring the safety of youth during transportation; enforcing appropriate bus conduct.
  6. Starting and concluding the program punctually; available post-program to address any inquiries from participants or parents.
  7. Providing information on outreach initiatives and schedules as necessary.
  8. Conducting surveys for students and parents to gather feedback.
  9. Performing daily cleaning tasks and additional duties as required.
  10. Setting up and dismantling the program area; reporting any facility or equipment issues to the supervisor in writing.
  11. Ensuring the safety and well-being of participants; addressing disciplinary matters with the Site Coordinator.
  12. Adhering to and enforcing all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including those related to health, emergencies, and safety.
  13. Being knowledgeable and prepared to implement emergency protocols.
  14. Documenting all incidents/accidents on the appropriate forms and submitting them to the supervisor within 24 hours.
  15. Timely submission of completed records, including daily attendance and surveys.
  16. Participating in all required training sessions and meetings.
  17. Maintaining punctuality and following established procedures for absences.
  18. Supporting fundraising efforts for the Strong Community Campaign.
  19. Performing other duties as assigned.
IMPACT ON OUTCOMES:
Adherence to the responsibilities of the Middle School Program Coordinator will ensure a secure, supervised, and high-quality program that reflects the needs and feedback of participants, with anticipated growth in program enrollment.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience:
  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. High School diploma or equivalent.
  3. Relevant experience working with youth.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
  1. Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, and engaging in light to moderate physical activity for extended periods; capable of lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds; must have finger dexterity and visual acuity.
  2. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  3. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and task management abilities; capable of making independent decisions in a dynamic environment.
  4. Exhibiting maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment, and a passion for working with youth.
  5. Demonstrating initiative in the absence of supervision.
  6. Ability to relate to and collaborate with diverse groups in a friendly and consistent manner.
  7. Working effectively as a team member as well as independently, meeting assigned goals and deadlines.
  8. Maintaining a neat and professional appearance at all times.
Job Requirements:

  3. Completion of CPR/AED and First Aid training as per employment conditions.
  4. Familiarity with all emergency procedures and action plans for the branch.

  6. Flexibility to work a schedule that meets the needs of the branch.
