Position Overview


Atrium Health is recognized as a premier community-focused academic healthcare organization serving the regions of North Carolina and South Carolina. We are seeking experienced Advanced Practice Providers to enhance our Surgery Care and Women's Health Divisions, particularly in Concord, North Carolina.



The ideal candidate will possess the ability to conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations, manage perioperative and postoperative care, and evaluate and address co-existing medical conditions related to surgical issues. This role involves working night shifts in collaboration with a Cabarrus Acute Care Surgeon, providing inpatient care for Gynecologic Oncology patients. This innovative initiative aims to cultivate an APP workforce dedicated to addressing the urgent after-hours needs of surgical patients across various services at Atrium Health Cabarrus.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Work night shifts and provide cross-coverage between Acute Care Surgery and Gynecologic Oncology.
  • Collaborate with in-house Acute Care Surgeons and communicate with Gynecologic Oncology attending physicians as necessary.
  • Participate in weekend and holiday shifts as required.
  • Engage in teaching opportunities with residents and/or APP Fellows.


Qualifications:



Candidates must hold or be eligible for a DEA license and be authorized to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in their respective state. Eligibility for prescriptive authority through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in North Carolina is required. A BLS certification for Healthcare Providers from AHA is mandatory, with an expiration date extending beyond 90 days from the start of practice. The candidate should demonstrate strong critical thinking abilities, interpersonal skills, and the capacity to prioritize and make proactive decisions. Current certifications in BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS are preferred.



Nurse Practitioner Requirements:



A Master's Degree or Doctorate in Nursing Practice is required, along with a valid Registered Nurse license. Certification in the relevant area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body is essential. Acute Care board certification is required based on the population and acuity served.



Physician Assistant Requirements:



A graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program is required, with a master's degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is also preferred.
