Job Summary:

Rocket Lab seeks an experienced Spacecraft GNC Lead/Manager to join our team at our global headquarters in Long Beach. As a key member of our Space Systems Software organization, you will lead the development of GNC systems for our growing fleet of spacecraft. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate GNC systems with flight software, mission operations, and ground software.

In this role, you will oversee the design, development, and testing of GNC systems, including flight software, algorithms, and simulation products. You will also be responsible for selecting and designing GNC components and subsystems, as well as defining fault detection and response strategies. Additionally, you will conduct hardware-in-the-loop and Monte Carlo simulations and integrate flight and simulation software with modern analysis, test, and operations tools.

About the Job:
  • Develop and implement GNC system designs and architectures.
  • Lead a team of engineers responsible for designing, modeling, and analyzing GNC systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GNC systems with other systems.
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures.
  • Analyze test results and identify areas for improvement.
  • Document and report technical progress and issues to stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of 3-5 engineers responsible for designing, modeling, and analyzing GNC systems.
  • Oversee the development of GNC system designs and architectures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GNC systems with flight software, mission operations, and ground software.
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures.


Salary Range:
The estimated salary range for this position is $180,000—$280,000 USD per year.
