About the Role

The Senior Commissioning Project Engineer reports to a team leader and is responsible for executing tasks related to equipment in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and associated systems. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing office assignments and time management to meet target billable hours.
  2. Conducting in-field installation validation, creating field observation reports, and meeting notes.
  3. Performing functional performance testing, on-site witness testing, and factory testing.
  4. Writing reports, meeting notes, submittal reviews, and design documentation evaluation.

In addition, the successful candidate will:

  1. Execute target billable hours, manage tasks within budgeted time frames, and lead Cx meetings.
  2. Assist the construction team in identifying and solving technical issues when they arise.
  3. Interpret contract documents to predict scope gaps, maximize opportunities for value delivery, and reduce risk.

This role also involves administrative activities such as:

  1. Supporting the team leader in coordinating weekly staff scheduling.
  2. Mentoring team members on proper documentation, field procedures, and equipment usage.
  3. Participating in company-wide developmental safety and training programs.
  4. Expanding relationships with existing clients to support revenue targets and quality assurance goals.

The ideal candidate must be able to travel to various job sites within the assigned region.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in HVACR, mechanical or electrical engineering, construction management, or an associate's degree in engineering technology or related trade school, construction, maintenance, or engineering controls experience.
  • P.E., LEED AP, or CCP certification is a plus.
  • At least 7 years of employment in a staff or intern position related to maintenance, construction, or engineering controls or 3+ years in the Cx industry.
  • 5+ years of experience managing interconnectivity of building equipment, including pumps, fans, motors, air ventilation, chillers, boilers, steam distribution, heat absorption, building automation systems, optimization techniques, electrical distribution, fire alarm, variable refrigerant flow, and waste-water systems.
  • Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, bid process, and ancillary industry documents.
  • Aptitude to solve problems independently and in a team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Adaptability to varying indoor and outdoor working conditions.
  • Physical fitness, capability to lift at least 30 pounds, and ability to climb ladders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Salary Estimate

We estimate the salary range for this role to be around $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience. This figure includes base salary, benefits, and bonuses.
