Job Overview

The Accounts Receivable Specialist plays a pivotal role in engaging with our clients to address any internal or external challenges that may hinder timely invoice payments. This position oversees all facets of issue resolution and facilitates discussions with relevant stakeholders. The role encompasses managing customer interactions from invoicing through to cash collection, serving as the primary liaison for problem resolution within the assigned portfolio.

The individual will manage a portfolio of accounts valued at over $20 million.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain professional communication, both written and verbal.
  • Effectively manage a substantial volume of email correspondence and phone interactions.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of customer billing systems to identify and resolve issues.
  • Exhibit proficiency in essential Excel functions to enhance collection efficiencies for major clients.
  • Utilize relationships across various departments and business units to improve issue resolution and ensure completion of action plans.
  • Proactively identify challenges and potential risks, formulate effective solutions, and develop actionable plans.
  • Promote accountability by addressing delinquency concerns within both the customer and Thermo Fisher Scientific organizations.
  • Adapt to and manage changes in priorities based on business requirements.
  • Establish a strategic approach to consistently meet or exceed established objectives.
  • Identify and report changes in customer behavior that may indicate increased risk of delinquency or default.
  • Work independently while adhering to guidelines and company policies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of onboarding materials for new team members.
  • Apply Practical Process Improvement techniques to identify and address root causes of problems.
  • Provide mentorship and support to fellow team members.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in collections and/or business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in Business to Business collections, customer service, or finance, with analytical skills necessary for reconciling customer accounts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective interaction via phone and email in a professional and customer-focused manner.
  • Goal-oriented with a strong sense of integrity.

  • Able to collaborate effectively with team members in a cooperative environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook), as well as Oracle and Cognos.
  • Willingness to travel as required, up to 20%.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Operate with a high degree of integrity and work well within a team setting.
