Responsibilities
  • Provide family-centered healthcare utilizing a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to deliver state-of-the-art care to adults, children, and infants.
  • Abide by and enforce all compliance requirements and policies, performing responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, families, and healthcare teams in person and via telephone/radios.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records, adhering to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.
  • Assist with patient assessments, vital sign documentation, and technical functions such as obtaining 12-lead EKGs and discontinuing peripheral IVs.
  • Participate in decontamination processes, perform POC blood glucose and hemoglobin testing, and maintain use of appropriate medical equipment and supplies.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, graduate of an EMT-Advanced course, licensed as an Advanced EMT in the state of Alabama, and one year of related experience.
  • Current BLS certification and possession of a valid driver's license with a sufficient driving record to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama.
