Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist PRN to join our team at StateServ. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and instruct patients, caregivers, and medical staff on the proper use and cleaning of respiratory equipment.
  • Complete progress reports with necessary billing information and submit timely to ensure proper allocation of payment.
  • Provide and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care, coordinate respiratory services, and perform respiratory care services in accordance with hospice orders.
  • Act as a point of contact for nurses for questions related to respiratory needs or equipment.
  • Respond to emergency calls and new patient orders to deliver equipment as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between patient and healthcare team to resolve order issues, complications, and make recommendations for respiratory patient care.
  • Schedule routine preventative maintenance and testing of respiratory equipment in patient's home to ensure proper operating condition and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Complete patient files and other necessary paperwork as per current policy and procedures and as assigned.
  • Provide professional-level in-services/trainings to hospice nurses to support the effective and proper use of respiratory equipment.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • Licensed RT
  • CRT
  • RRT
  • At least one year experience as an RT is required
  • Experience with home medical care strongly desired
Working Conditions

Incumbents may be periodically exposed to odors and dust from used equipment. Incumbents may periodically experience occupational exposure to bodily fluids, feces, and blood when handling dirty durable medical equipment. Incumbents may seldom experience occupational exposure to other potentially infectious materials when handling respiratory equipment.

Physical Requirements

Regular and continuous eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity is required to set up respiratory equipment. Periodically, standing, walking, bending, twisting, grasping, squeezing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching, reaching above the shoulder is required while transporting, setting up, taking apart, and moving medical equipment.
