Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher Assistant to join our team at UCP of Maine. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities.

About the Role

The Special Education Teacher Assistant will work closely with lead and assistant teachers to provide support to clients, teaching daily living, communication, social, and safety skills. This role requires maintaining accurate documentation and records, as well as implementing the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain daily documentation, ensuring that client progress and development are accurately recorded.
  • Support the child's learning and goals, working collaboratively with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized plans.
  • Ensure the use of safe play skills, promoting a safe and healthy environment for all clients.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment, fostering a sense of community and inclusion among clients and staff.
  • Follow each child's treatment plan, providing personalized support and care to meet their unique needs.
  • Maintain client safety at all times, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
Requirements
  • Highest level of education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must obtain CPR/First Aid/BBP certifications within 60 days of hire (provided).
  • Must obtain Safety Care certification within 30 days of hire (provided).
  • Must obtain BHP certification within 12 months of hire (provided).
  • Valid State of Maine driver license, reliable transportation with proof of registration and insurance, and willingness to use own transportation for work.

  • A competitive estimated salary range of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
