This role is situated within a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) under the Defense Health Agency.
The MTF is located in a region known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreational activities, providing a unique living experience.
As a Clinical Social Services Specialist, you will be part of a community that values both personal and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
- Deliver individual, family, and group therapeutic counseling services to address and manage personal, psychological, and interpersonal challenges.
- Formulate individualized treatment strategies based on psychiatric evaluations, identified issues, and specific treatment requirements for each case.
- Gather comprehensive bio-psycho-social data about clients through interviews, case histories, and observational techniques.
- Assess the information collected to establish diagnoses, treatment plans, and determine the necessity for counseling or referrals to other professionals or institutions.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans for clients.
Qualifications
Eligibility: Open to U.S. Citizens
To qualify, candidates must meet the educational and/or experiential criteria outlined below. Experience encompasses both paid and unpaid roles, including volunteer work through National Service programs and other organizations. All relevant experience will be considered, and your resume should clearly detail your qualifications. If qualifying through education, transcripts will be required.
Minimum Qualifications for GS-09:
Education: A Master's degree (or higher) in social work from an accredited institution recognized by the Council on Social Work Education.
Minimum Qualifications for GS-11:
Education: A Master's degree (or higher) in social work from an accredited institution recognized by the Council on Social Work Education.
AND
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that includes assisting in conducting bio-psycho-social evaluations of behavioral health clients; supporting individual or group therapeutic counseling; and implementing behavioral health treatment recommendations. This experience is typically associated with the GS-09 level in federal service.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be utilized to qualify for this position, provided the total percentage of requirements meets or exceeds 100%.
AND Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, issued by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.
Minimum Qualifications for GS-12:
Education: A Master's degree (or higher) in social work from an accredited institution recognized by the Council on Social Work Education.
AND
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that includes conducting bio-psycho-social evaluations of behavioral health clients, providing individual or group therapeutic counseling, and developing behavioral health treatment plans or recommendations. This experience is typically associated with the GS-11 level in federal service. Note that for this position, experience cannot be substituted with education.
AND Licensure: The GS-11 and GS-12 Social Worker roles require a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, issued by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.
