This is a multi-grade announcement, and your salary will be determined by the grade level when you're hired.
The position is located with the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) at Fort Drum, New York.
Fort Drum is home to the 10th Mountain Division and is located in Northern New York's picturesque North County.
The area offers bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities, including hunting, fishing, boating, sailing, scuba diving, white water rafting, and winter sports of all types.
The position is part of the Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps, Falls Church, VA.
Responsibilities- Provide individual, family, and group clinical counseling services to identify and manage personal, psychological, and interactive problems associated with occupation and personal adjustment.
- Develop individual treatment plans based on psychiatric diagnosis, identified problems, and treatment needs for each case.
- Collect bio-psycho-social information about patients using interview, case history, and observation techniques and assessment methods.
- Analyze information collected to determine diagnosis, treatment plan, and/or advisability of counseling or referral to other specialists or institutions.
- Evaluate treatment effectiveness of a patient's treatment plan.
To qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Minimum QualificationsFor the GS-09: A Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
For the GS-11: A Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, and one year of specialized experience which includes assisting with conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations of behavioral health patients, assisting with providing individual or group clinical counseling, and implementing behavioral health treatment recommendations.
For the GS-12: A Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, and one year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations of behavioral health patients, providing individual or group clinical counseling, and developing behavioral health treatment plans or recommendations.
A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required for the GS-11 and GS-12 positions.
