Ambulatory Care Nurse Opportunity

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Ambulatory Care Nurse to join our team in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care to patients in our Ambulatory Medical Surgical Specialties and Float Pool. As an Ambulatory Care Nurse, you will be responsible for providing nursing support and care to patients, ensuring timely and effective communication and coordination with clinicians and support staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing support and care to patients in the Ambulatory Medical Surgical Specialties and Float Pool.
  • Ensure timely and effective communication and coordination with clinicians and support staff.
  • Provide clinical telephone triage and general nursing support for patients across the Division of Ambulatory Medical Surgical Specialties.
  • Maintain familiarity with department activity and work collaboratively to provide excellent care to patients and families.
  • Participate in departmental and organizational quality management and/or quality improvement projects as directed by the leadership team.
  • Proficient use of the electronic medical record, documenting in a manner that is clear, complete, concise, and in SBAR format when appropriate.
  • Work in a normal office setting, with extended periods of sitting and fast-paced, phone-based care.
  • Prepare, perform, and document the coordination of clinical care, including assisting patients with medication questions, delivering lab results, and providing patient education as needed.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current registration in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 6 months of recent clinical nursing experience in an Ambulatory Clinic/Practice setting and/or Emergency room setting.
  • Minimum of 6 months of nursing experience with telephone triage, with telephone triage as the main responsibility.
  • Experience with in-person triage and clinical assessment techniques of an adult patient within the last 4 years.
  • Ambulatory Neurology experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in an Ambulatory Medical Specialty (not procedural) area or Primary Care with patient care delivery as an RN is strongly preferred.
  • Must be comfortable with all aspects of patient care in person and via telephone.
  • Case Management experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or desire to obtain certification in Ambulatory Care or an ambulatory Specialty area within 2 years.
  • Able to work weekend rotation per the MNA contract.
