We are seeking a highly skilled Residential Building Inspector to join our team at St. Louis County, MO. As a key member of our Code Enforcement department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough inspections of residential buildings and sites to determine compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Issue approvals for construction projects that meet county standards and issue correction orders for non-compliant sites.
- Inspect buildings damaged by fire to determine the extent of the damage and complete damage reports.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, including written reports, violation notices, and photographs.
- Provide expert advice to contractors, owners, and supervisors on inspection results, stop work orders, and violation notices.
- Five years of experience in the building construction trade, preferably including experience in building inspection and/or code enforcement.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
St. Louis County offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid medical insurance, 20 days of paid time off, and 11 paid holidays.
