About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tax Planning Analyst to join our team at FirstEnergy. As a key member of our Tax Department, you will play a critical role in supporting the calculation of our income tax provision, preparing journal entries, and compiling data for financial reporting and internal control functions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform various accounting and analytical tasks to support the calculation of the income tax provision
  • Prepare journal entries for monthly and quarterly closing and documentation relating to financial reporting and internal control functions
  • Compile and analyze data necessary to support the preparation and filing of federal and state income tax returns
  • Compile and analyze data necessary to support the preparation and filing of various regulatory reports and/or rate cases
  • Reconcile various tax accounts as needed
  • Take initiative to solve problems and bring issues to closure
  • Collaborate openly and honestly as part of a team

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or comparable degree with Accounting minor or specialization, required
  • Minimum 0-2 years' work experience required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SAP preferred but not required
  • Ability to follow established practices, procedures, and instructions, and produce accurate and timely work product
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to shifting priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently on special assignments as directed
