Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of our products, as well as leading our quality management system to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:- Safety and Quality: Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
- Investigations and Corrective Actions: Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk, and completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
- Risk Assessment and Management: Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
- Training and Development: Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
- Goal Setting and Achievement: Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
- Leadership and Communication: Motivates and coaches' employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback, and identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
- Emergency Response and Security: Responding to any emergency or potential emergency, and maintaining control of personal key cards, preventing unauthorized entry to the facility by non-Berry employees, and proper maintenance / security of Berry information and equipment within your direct responsibility.
- Quality Management System: Responsible for ensuring, through system audits, that the Berry Global Quality Management System is executed per the Quality Manual.
- Quality Records and Reporting: Responsible for developing and ensuring the maintenance of the plants quality records, i.e. inspection and test results, gauge calibration, specifications, CAR's training records or other records required by ISO, SQF, or customer requirements.
- Housekeeping and 5S: Maintain good housekeeping and 5S.
- Operational Excellence: Lead function in an operational and cost-effective manner.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with other departments to assure both product quality and efficiencies of processes are maintained.
- Training and Development Programs: Responsible for all quality training programs, planning and coordinating various programs to meet personnel needs within the department and recommends improved training methods.
- Customer Communication: Communicates with customers to resolve quality issues and establish appropriate corrective action.
- Supplier Management: Work with suppliers to continuously improve their processes and give feedback regarding their quality performance to drive improvement.
- Audits and Compliance: Organize and direct internal and external audits, and establish and maintain good relationships with customers.
- SPC and Capability Studies: Review SPC data as needed and manage capability studies and prepares reports on the results.
- Quality Plan Development: Assist corporate engineering and customers in quality plan development.
- Leadership and Team Management: Lead staff to accomplish activities in an efficient and safe manner.
- Special Projects: Assist other departments with special projects as assigned.
- GMP and Product Safety: Promotes and audits GMP policy as well as product safety.
- Physical Demands: Capable of physical mobility including sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and lifting.
- Lifting Ability: Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Attendance and Overtime: Maintain an attendance record within company guidelines and working required overtime.
- Language Skills: Read, write and speak English.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Quality related field or equivalent experience, and three to five years of Quality leadership experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Lotus Notes.
- Leadership and Team Skills: Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and leadership to others, and demonstrated ability to develop a team environment.
- Knowledge and Certifications: Working knowledge of ISO, SPC, and team building, and ASQ certification and Plastics experience is a plus.
- Availability: Available to work extended work days and weekends as needed, and ability to travel as needed.
