As a Horizontal Construction Engineer in the Army National Guard, you'll play a crucial role in preparing construction sites for various projects. You'll also be responsible for transporting heavy construction equipment and materials, as well as assisting in the performance of combat engineer missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cut and spread fill material with a scraper
  • Operate heavy equipment to clear and level the terrain
  • Transport heavy construction equipment and materials
  • Assist in the performance of combat engineer missions

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Maintenance and repair of heavy equipment
  • Identification of soil types and placement of grade stakes
  • Preference for working outdoors

Training and Career Opportunities:

In the Army National Guard, you'll have the opportunity to develop valuable skills and experience in construction methods and engineering principles. You may also earn specialized certifications that can be applied to a civilian construction career. With nine weeks of Basic Training and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training, you'll be well-prepared for a successful career in construction.
