Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Memorial Health University Medical Center. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient processing of sterile medical products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the packaging, decontamination, and handling of sterile medical products
  • Complete training in assembly, decontamination, and sterilization processes
  • Process and reprocess reusable products, and prepare case carts for surgical procedures
  • Participate in activities to analyze and improve sterile processing performance and support safety
  • Manage supplies, instrumentation, and equipment repair activities
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent required
  • Certification as a Central Service Technician preferred within 18 months
  • Successful completion of orientation programs and competency requirements required within four months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledgeable in the storage, handling, and distribution of sterile medical products
  • Demonstrates knowledge of surgical attire, aseptic techniques, event-related sterility, monitoring of environmental conditions, traffic patterns, and other practices influencing maintenance of a sterile field
  • Demonstrates competence in the use of decontamination equipment, flash sterilization, and instrument sterilization
  • Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety and evacuation routes
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Basic proficiency with personal computers and their associated applications
  • Possess the ability to regularly lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Demonstrates the ability to multi-task autonomously while working on multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Demonstrates creativity, flexibility, and the ability to resolve atypical problems
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. The successful candidate will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow strict infection control protocols.
