Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative I to join our team at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. As a Patient Access Representative I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration and admission process for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Register patients and/or responsible parties in a timely and efficient manner using multiple methods of communication.
  • Obtain required admission information, including patient insurance/financial information, demographics, and ensure an accurate medical record is created.
  • Promote accurate billing information and prevent fraudulent use of insurance.
  • Obtain necessary signatures for consent for services and mandatory Medicare and Tricare documents, and communicate with third parties to coordinate authorized hospital services.
  • Execute the pre-registration and pre-authorization process by obtaining necessary documentation from the patient, patient's physician, and insurance company.
  • Assist walk-in patients who are not scheduled, if they have a physical order or it is already displayed in EPIC, and enter the order and schedule the patient to have the test done.
  • Review price estimates and collect appropriate monies due or arrange for payment plans with each patient, and review and discuss all patient financial responsibility at the appropriate time in the admission process.
  • Maintain patient records regarding all non-clinical patient information, and coordinate with all departments for patient services and information.
  • Process correspondence and return mail, and direct and escort patients and visitors to appropriate departments.
  • Scan items in a timely and efficient manner, and ensure that patient name, encounter number, and medical record number are documented on each page of the medical record 100% of the time.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Requirements
  • High school diploma (or equivalent certificate from an accredited program) or higher.
  • 3 Months: (Behavioral Health Department Only) Crisis Intervention (CPI) training within 3 months of start date.
