Position: Automotive Technician - New Product Development in Vehicle Dynamics

Location: New Carlisle, IN (Onsite)

Job Responsibilities:

As a key member of the Navistar Vehicle Dynamics team, you will support product validation activities for class 4-8 commercial trucks and buses, including both internal combustion engine (ICE) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) powertrains.

This role requires working the first shift onsite at the Navistar Proving Grounds. You will collaborate closely with test engineers and fellow technicians to facilitate a variety of vehicle assembly and validation tasks.

Key Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical skills with proficiency in using both power and hand tools.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience in ballasting vehicles, including installing load racks and managing ballast weights.
  • Competence in tire changes and trailer maintenance, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Skills in part swaps and installations, as well as bed/body installations.
  • Assistance with instrumentation setup and general vehicle preparation and repairs.
  • Capability to work safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to maintaining clean and organized workspaces.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in using computers and MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
