- Assists in the preparation and positioning of patients for MRI examinations.
- Employs necessary technical expertise to secure diagnostic-quality studies in accordance with established protocols and patient requirements.
- Educates patients about specific imaging procedures, including the nature of the exam and any pertinent instructions.
- Reviews patient safety forms and adheres to MRI safety protocols prior to initiating scans.
- Ensures patient clearance before transitioning from safety zones.
- Assists in the administration of contrast media and/or operates power injectors under sterile conditions.
- Positions patients and related equipment to achieve optimal imaging results.
- Scans and processes patient-related documentation.
- Labels all images in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures.
- Provides direct assistance to physicians as necessary.
- Evaluates radiographic images for technical quality and ensures timely transmission to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
- Maintains cleanliness of the radiology room and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift, including the disposal of soiled linens.
- Ensures the availability of necessary supplies and accessories in the imaging room to perform duties safely.
- Accurately logs all required patient tracking information into the Radiology Information System (IDX).
- Schedules examinations within the IDX as needed.
- Confirms that all completed studies are recorded in the IDX promptly.
- Reports any equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel.
- Prevents infection transmission by adhering to established infection control policies and procedures.
- Participates in professional development meetings and in-service training as required.
- Maintains valid licensure specific to the role, ensuring compliance with relevant health regulations.
