Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide specialized health care services to students in a school setting. The successful candidate will work under the direction of an assigned administrator and in coordination with the District Nurse and Certificated Staff to meet the individual health needs of students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a variety of specialized health care services, including catheterization, gastrostomy tube feedings, ostomy care, tracheostomy care, suctioning, ventilator, respiratory inhaler, nebulizer treatments, and monitoring insulin dosages and blood sugar levels.
  • Administer first aid and CPR according to established procedures and initiate emergency procedures related to seizure disorders and allergic reactions as needed.
  • Assist certificated staff in the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and related goals and objectives, providing support to students with meeting IEP goals and objectives, monitoring student progress, and adapting, accommodating, and modifying classroom and homework assignments to meet individual student needs and reinforce learning activities.
  • Document procedures, medications, changes regarding student's condition, student progress, ISHP, IEP goals, and responses to procedures on required logs for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Maintain a variety of manual and electronic documents, files, and records (e.g., student health information, student care plans, medication logs and information, emergency cards, emergency health care plans, informational pamphlets, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or recognized equivalent, supplemented by course work necessary to fulfill the Licensed Vocational Nurse requirement.
  • One year of work experience providing health care in a special education class, nursing facility, clinic, or hospital.
  • California License of Vocational Nursing (LVN) and valid First Aid certification.
Benefits
  • Employees working 4 hours per day or more will be provided an option of Anthem Blue Cross HMO or Kaiser health benefits, as well as Delta Dental and EyeMed Vision benefits.
  • Employees may opt out of medical, dental, and vision insurance but may require to provide proof of other health coverage.
  • The district also pays into a life insurance policy for all employees who work at least 4 hours per day.
