Job Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse

Carlsbad Unified School District is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team. As an LVN, you will provide specialized health care services to medically fragile students with severe physical disabilities and/or life-threatening health conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a variety of specialized health care procedures, including catheterization, gastrostomy tube feedings, ostomy care, tracheostomy care, suctioning, ventilator, respiratory inhaler, nebulizer treatments, and monitor insulin dosages and blood sugar levels.
  • Assist students with toileting, diapering, and menstruation needs.
  • Lift and move students as required, up to 50 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Assist students with moving to and from a wheelchair.
  • Document procedures, medications, and changes regarding student's condition, student progress, ISHP, IEP goals, and responses to procedures on required logs.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from high school or recognized equivalent, supplemented by coursework necessary to fulfill the Licensed Vocational Nurse requirement.
  • One year of work experience providing health care in a special education class, nursing facility, clinic, or hospital.
  • California License of Vocational Nursing (LVN).
  • Valid First Aid and Child/Infant/Adult CPR certificates.
