Job Summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant I to provide high-quality patient care in a hospital, clinic, or home health care setting. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician to deliver exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
  • Provide direct and indirect patient care, including routine activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation.
  • Observe, collect, and document patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.
  • Provide care and treatments to patients as outlined in the plan of care, including vital sign measurement, specimen collection, skin preps/scrubs, catheter care, and supportive patient and family interactions.
  • Reinforce routine teaching given to patients by the registered nurse or physician and document patient understanding of instructions.
Requirements
  • Listing as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English language and able to develop basic computer skills.
