Position Overview

We are currently looking for a skilled Purchasing Agent to enhance our inventory management and improve on-time delivery (OTD) metrics. This position is based at our headquarters in Cleveland, OH.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and interpret MRP messages to determine purchasing needs that meet demand and maintain minimum stock levels while optimizing inventory.
  • Identify opportunities for warehouse transfers to balance stock and enhance service levels.
  • Prepare and send vendor RFQs for new orders based on net order requirements.
  • Assess vendor quotes and negotiate terms, utilizing market pricing insights and cost trends to lower average costs.
  • Maintain awareness of cost fluctuations in all relevant categories and report as necessary.
  • Keep a thorough understanding of materials in transit.
  • Develop, maintain, and revise part policies and item master records.
  • Ensure timely and precise commercial documentation from suppliers.
  • Request monthly open PO reports from suppliers and update the ERP system accordingly.
  • Verify that shipping and delivery dates are accurately reflected in the ERP system.
  • Review acknowledgments for accuracy regarding costs and expected delivery timelines.
  • Prioritize and expedite urgent materials, including open orders and new POs as required.
  • Create prioritized lists for suppliers to efficiently resolve backorders and supply shortages.
  • Evaluate and submit special purchase order requests.
  • Investigate invoice discrepancies to ensure accurate payments.
  • Identify and analyze the root causes of backorders.
  • Address and communicate any supply chain issues that may affect business operations.
  • Monitor and report supplier on-time performance on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare and share a quarterly supplier scorecard.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • CPIM certification or equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power BI, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement technologies; experience with NetStock is a plus.
