Key Responsibilities- Procurement and Inventory Management: Order and distribute parts, materials, and supplies to support mission requirements, ensuring adequate inventory levels and timely delivery.
- Vendor Qualification and Management: Qualify and manage approved vendors, ensuring they meet quality and delivery standards, provide competitive pricing, and are a qualified and approved source.
- Problem-Solving and Communication: Respond to vendor production and delivery problems, providing inter-departmental assistance and ensuring timely resolution.
- Shortage Reporting and Expediting: Monitor shortage reporting, provide vendor expediting interface for critical purchased material requirements, and ensure adequate vendor response to production schedules and reschedules.
- Purchasing Lead Times and Materials Management: Provide and update purchasing lead times for daily materials management, ensuring adequate vendor response to production schedules and reschedules.
- Vendor Performance Monitoring: Maintain objective performance data for vendor findings, providing timely management of non-conformance reports to improve overall quality and reduce rejections.
- Cost Savings and Cost Avoidance: Report and document all cost-saving and cost-avoidance activities, reviewing with management any significant cost escalations.
- Invoice Resolution: Review and resolve all invoices that deviate from the acknowledged contract's purchase price or in lieu of confirmed agreements.
- Staff Work and Cost/Price Analysis: Perform any staff work or cost/price analysis required.
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of industrial purchasing experience and previous aviation purchasing experience highly desired. Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory control, and forklift experience.
Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Word processing, Spreadsheets, internet software, e-mail, database software, inventory software, order processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: This position requires a current driver's license.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; explosives; risk of radiation; and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
