Position Overview:
As a Field Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the startup, testing, and optimization of industrial control systems at various client locations, focusing primarily on refrigeration systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct troubleshooting for mechanical, network, control, and electrical issues.
• Perform surveys of existing industrial facilities and their control systems.
• Oversee field installation projects, including managing schedules and subcontractors.
Required Qualifications:
• A degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Experience in PLC programming, particularly with Allen Bradley, GE, or Opto22.
• A solid understanding of electrical and mechanical system fundamentals.
• Knowledge of safe work practices in electrical circuits and industrial settings.
• Familiarity with control circuits, PLCs (especially Allen-Bradley), variable speed drives, sensors, meters, and calibration techniques.
• Proficient in identifying and terminating field power and control wiring.
• Ability to read and interpret ladder diagrams and schematics.
• Competence in analyzing, documenting, modifying, and maintaining complex control systems.
• Intermediate or advanced PC hardware and software skills.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers, programmers, engineers, and plant operators.
• Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• A driving record that meets insurability standards.
Essential Skills:
PLC programming, Allen Bradley PLC, HMI programming, refrigeration systems, field service expertise, gas systems, thermodynamics, Codesys, VFD.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
• Willingness to travel extensively (up to 80%).
Experience Level:
Intermediate Level.
