Job Summary

Kansas City Kansas Community College is seeking a highly qualified adjunct faculty member to teach in the Automotive Collision Repair program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the field and the ability to provide high-quality instruction to students.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the Automotive Collision Repair program, including providing formal instruction and leadership in the program. They will also be responsible for ensuring that curriculum, resources, and materials are updated with industry standards and practices.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to learner-centered pedagogy and the ability to work collaboratively with industry partners. They will also have excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and supervisors.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing formal instruction and leadership in the Automotive Collision Repair program
  • Ensuring curriculum, resources, and materials are updated with industry standards and practices
  • Specifying, selecting, operating, and maintaining equipment and/or training modules required to support the specific course(s) taught within departmental budget constraints
  • Ensuring program equipment stays current and on trend with the industry
  • Working with program personnel on the departmental budget
  • Maintaining and updating course syllabi addressing targeted student abilities, specific competencies, textbook requirements, grading/assessment methodology, course scheduling, and/or other items as required
  • Preparing course lesson plans utilizing the approved program syllabi
  • Demonstrating commitment to the program, division, and total institution by timely attendance and submission of required grades, attendance, or other miscellaneous reports to the administration
  • Helping to recruit and market the program to potential students
  • Collaborating on textbook section and educational resources to support the program learning with program personnel
  • Completing all assessment activities per the Office of Assessment's guidelines, including program review and documentation
  • Participating in industry-based advisory board meetings in support of a college-level program
  • Assisting in student job placement and follow-up
  • Ensuring students are following appropriate safety practices
  • Participating in regular professional development
  • Participating in regular program meetings with program faculty and staff
  • Serving on institutional committees as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements include:

  • Associate degree in an appropriate discipline
  • Three (3) years of related industry experience
  • Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline, previous teaching experience, and experience in learner-centered pedagogy
