Job Description
We're seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Internal/Family Medicine team in Norwalk, CT. As a key member of our healthcare team, you'll assist in planning and implementing care interventions while promoting high-quality patient care in a professional, efficient, and safe manner. You'll manage time effectively to maintain patient flow and provide personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to patients.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
- Introduce yourself to patients while escorting them into the exam room.
- Prepare patients for exams and procedures.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians' instructions to patients.
- Administer medications, including all types of injections, IV therapy as needed, and within the scope of licensure.
- Provide basic patient care and treatments, such as dressing wounds, performing catheterizations, or applying compresses.
- Collect, label, and process specimens accurately.
- Clean and prepare medical treatment rooms for patient visits.
- Assemble and use equipment appropriate to specific medical practice.
- Schedule follow-up appointments for patients as needed.
- Communicate delays effectively when necessary.
Charting:
- Enter patient information into the computer accurately and in a timely manner.
- Manage the physician's desktop accurately and in a timely and efficient manner.
Miscellaneous:
- Provide clerical support to patients, including making appointments, booking procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations, and answering telephones.
- Manage medical inventory and supply ordering based on par levels.
- Work under the supervision of a physician or Registered Nurse.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of LPN school program.
- Current licensure as LPN in the state of CT and/or New York.
- IV and/or phlebotomy skills preferred.
- Complete competency skill checklist within the first 3 months.
