Position Overview:
The Field Training Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing the training and development of labor, craft, and field supervisory personnel involved in heavy civil construction, paving, and plant operations. Reporting to the Director of Middlesex Learning and Development, this position is tasked with the planning, coordination, and oversight of field training initiatives to ensure they align with the organization's objectives and priorities. The Field Training Supervisor collaborates closely with Regional Field Trainers to implement effective training programs, cultivates strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, analyzes training metrics and data, and reports on the effectiveness of training initiatives. This role promotes a culture of continuous learning and significantly contributes to the safety, competency, and professional growth of the workforce at The Middlesex Corporation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute training strategies tailored to the requirements of labor, craft, and supervisory personnel, prioritizing safety as the organization's foremost value.
- Partner with regional Field Trainers and the Learning & Development Coordinator to ensure the successful delivery of training programs, adhering to safety protocols, regulatory standards, and company policies.
- Build strategic alliances with internal subject matter experts, safety professionals, industry organizations, and training vendors to access resources and expertise that enhance training programs.
- Conduct regular evaluations of training needs and performance gaps within the workforce, utilizing insights from project executives, operations managers, and safety professionals to inform training priorities.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive system for monitoring the effectiveness of field training programs, employing key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and feedback mechanisms to continually assess and enhance training outcomes.
- Provide regular reports and analyses on training metrics, including team member performance, competency assessments, and the impact of training interventions, to support informed decision-making regarding Learning & Development strategies and outcomes.
- Oversee and assess the performance of Field Trainers, offering coaching, guidance, and support to ensure successful planning, execution, and evaluation of training activities, along with mentorship and professional development opportunities as needed.
- Stay informed about industry trends, innovations, and best practices in skills and safety training, integrating new methodologies to improve training effectiveness.
- Maintain oversight of administrative functions related to field training operations to ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and professionalism, emphasizing the importance of adhering to all safety protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in construction, with a focus on training and development of a construction workforce.
- In-depth knowledge of construction industry practices, safety regulations, and technical skills required for various construction trades.
- Proven experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs, preferably in a construction or industrial environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate diverse groups of employees.
- Strong leadership and project management capabilities, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and drive results in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems (LMS).
- Relevant certifications in training, safety, or construction management are advantageous.
