Parking Operations Manager

Overview

Parking Operations Manager will oversee the overall operation, revenue, efficiency, and personnel management of the Parking Department at the Iowa Events Center. This individual will be responsible for supervising parking staff at all locations and ensuring smooth ingress and egress of customers.

The successful candidate will have experience in supervising staff and managing cash handling operations. They will be responsible for tracking attendance, reconciling cash and credit sales, and preparing financial reports. Additionally, they will be required to maintain accurate records and provide excellent customer service.

The Parking Operations Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of the parking department and will be an integral part of the team at the Iowa Events Center.

Responsibilities

• Supervise parking staff at all locations, including parking attendants, parking supervisors, and lead parking attendants.

• Interview, select, train, evaluate, and motivate parking staff to ensure they are meeting performance expectations.

• Ensure parking schedule and attendance tracking are completed timely and accurately communicated to staff.

• Monitor and communicate parking supplies and equipment needs to the Director of Events.

• Track attendance of staff according to the Attendance Policy and ensure employee schedules are entered timely into the internet-based ADP timekeeping system.

• Communicate policy, process, and procedure updates/information with parking staff.

• Track parking sales and maintain daily parking records through technology.

• Reconcile cash, credit, and online sales in accordance with established accounting procedures.

• Prepare various operational and financial reports regarding areas of responsibility.

• Reconcile payroll at the end of each pay period.

• Monitor and maintain parking bank.

• Assist in the operation of daily events as business demands to provide excellent customer service.

• Monitor lots during events to ensure smooth ingress and egress of customers.

• Tactfully and promptly resolve all customer service issues related to parking.

• Inspect work/productivity of parking attendants/parking supervisors to ensure that the highest levels of efficiency, accuracy, and customer service are met.

• Coordinate with Parking Supervisors and Event Managers for scheduling of staff for events.

• Ensure proper maintenance standards of all parking booths are met.

• Coach and execute disciplinary procedures with parking staff as required.

• Partner with Human Resources on complex discipline or terminations.

• Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in facility management, management, business administration, or a related field preferred.

• 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a similar field or customer service.

• Excellent computer skills in Windows format, including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.

• Experience entering employee schedules in an internet-based timekeeping system preferred.

• Two or more years of high-volume cash handling experience preferred.

• Basic accounting/bookkeeping experience is helpful.

• Ability to safely and accurately handle and account for large sums of money.

• Possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

• Demonstrated ability to consistently perform effectively and use sound judgment in stressful situations.

• Knowledge/experience with supervisory skills such as motivation, support, and coaching employees in accomplishing goals and objectives.

• Ability to speak, read, and write clearly and concisely in the English language to direct staff by company radio, email, and read company event details.

• Ability to be available by company cell phone as required on event dates.

• Must be available to work a flexible schedule including long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Possess a valid driver's license or have the ability to acquire one.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively lead a team.

Salary: $47,000 to $55,000 per year.
