Job Summary

The Director of Special Projects at Harvard University's Institute of Politics is responsible for conceiving and directing the development and implementation of high-profile political events and conferences. This includes overseeing large-scale conferences, managing existing collaborations with national organizations, and developing new opportunities to the Institute of Politics and wider Harvard community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conceive and direct the development and implementation of high-profile political events and conferences.
  • Oversee large-scale conferences, including Newly Elected Members of Congress; Campaign Decision Makers and Newly Elected Mayors Conference.
  • Manage existing collaborations with national organizations and develop new opportunities to the Institute of Politics and wider Harvard community.
  • Represent the Institute of Politics and Harvard University to students, invited speakers, faculty, and program participants.
  • Produce bi-weekly Director's Dinners for the university and greater Boston community and implement and manage the IOP leadership seminar.
  • Manage the Harvard Political Union and oversee the pizza and politics program and multiple IOP student leaders and groups.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public service, politics, or a related field, with experience in event planning, program management, and collaboration with national organizations. A master's degree is preferred, and a bachelor's degree is required. The candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
