Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Patient Care Tech I to join our team at Emory Healthcare. As a Patient Care Tech I, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN, including cleaning patient rooms, operating clinical equipment, and assisting with patient procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Maintain hospital and unit-specific competencies to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Assist in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN and ensure that prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided.
  • Comply with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards to maintain a clean and healthy work environment.
  • Operate various medical equipment, including bag-valve-mask devices, oxygen machines, and bedside glucose monitoring machines.
  • Record patient intake and output, and assist RN/LPN in providing patient care according to individual needs.
  • Transport patients and patient specimens throughout the hospital as needed, and contribute to the completion of patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Previous healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
Physical and Environmental Demands

The Patient Care Tech I role requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, carry objects up to 35 pounds, and stand for long periods. The work environment may expose the employee to blood-borne pathogens, bio-hazardous waste, chemicals, and other environmental hazards.
