Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist I - Operating Room Specialist is responsible for preparing the operating room by setting up sterile surgical instruments and supplies. During the surgical procedure, the surgical tech anticipates the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies, performing sponge/sharps counts, and providing solutions to the surgeons. The surgical tech ensures there are no breaks in sterile technique.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile surgical instruments and supplies

  • Perform sponge/sharps counts
  • Provide solutions to the surgeons
  • Ensure no breaks in sterile technique

Work Environment:

The Surgical Technologist I - Operating Room Specialist works in a fast-paced operating room environment, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Successful completion of a Surgical Technology training program or equivalent Surg Tech Military training/work experience required
  • BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted
  • No surgical technician work experience required
