Job Summary

This position is for a highly skilled MRI Technologist/Radiology Technologist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnostic radiologic technology and experience with vascular interventional procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic angiographic procedures and complex vascular and nonvascular interventional and therapeutic procedures.
  • Administer contrast media under the supervision of a staff radiologist and confer with the radiologist to establish requirements regarding contrast agents, vital signs, medications, and physiologic monitoring.
  • Use specialized equipment to perform diagnostic angiographic procedures and complex vascular and nonvascular interventional and therapeutic procedures.
  • Review new developments in the field and recommend to the supervisor those that would improve the operation of the section.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Must have completed a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE).
  • Must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R).
  • Must have advanced ARRT certification for assignments that include computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or Mammography (M) duties performed independently.

This position is performed in a health care setting and requires working with patients, staff, and equipment. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent patient care.
