Counselor for Addiction Recovery

The SOUTH SUBURBAN COUNCIL ON ALCOHOLISM AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE is seeking a compassionate and experienced Counselor for Addiction Recovery to join our team. As a counselor, you will work closely with clients to develop personalized recovery plans, conduct assessments, and facilitate individual and group counseling sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough assessments to identify clients' strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
2. Develop and implement effective recovery plans that address clients' unique needs and goals.
3. Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions, using evidence-based therapeutic techniques to promote positive change.
4. Monitor clients' progress, making adjustments to recovery plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
5. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, addressing physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of addiction.
6. Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention strategies, empowering them to take control of their lives.
7. Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting interventions, progress, and relevant information.
8. Stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in addiction counseling, integrating new knowledge into your practice.
9. Participate in ongoing training and supervision to enhance your professional development and stay current with industry standards.
10. Uphold the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in your work, adhering to laws and regulations governing addiction counseling.
Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
2. State licensure or certification as a licensed therapist.
3. Prior experience in addiction counseling or a related field is highly desirable.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse populations.
5. Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude towards individuals struggling with addiction.
6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
7. Familiarity with various treatment modalities and therapeutic approaches for addiction.
