Position Overview: The Instructor for Students with Visual Impairments is responsible for delivering tailored educational experiences that foster social, cognitive, and emotional development in students with visual challenges. This role involves the design and execution of a comprehensive instructional framework aimed at enhancing the learning journey of visually impaired students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute lesson plans that cater to diverse learning preferences.
  • Develop, implement, and assess individualized educational strategies based on each student's unique requirements.
  • Provide instruction on various assistive technologies and software specifically designed for individuals with visual impairments.
  • Assist in the selection and adaptation of educational materials and tools.
  • Transcribe instructional content into braille or large print as necessary.
  • Evaluate student learning styles and utilize findings to inform educational activities.
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and achievement.
  • Compile necessary reports and documentation as mandated.
  • Engage in collaborative IEP meetings with parents, educators, and other relevant personnel.
  • Coordinate with fellow educators to enhance program development.
  • Complete progress reports for each student and adhere to institutional policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid state teaching certificate as per state regulations.
  • Prior experience as an instructor for visually impaired students is preferred.
  • Adherence to all applicable professional standards of practice.
  • Completion of any required competency programs.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • Health clearance as required by state regulations.
  • Must fulfill all federal, state, and local criteria.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English are essential.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
