Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Builders FirstSource. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating activities related to maintaining, repairing, and installing plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Requisition and issue tools, equipment, and supplies related to plant equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors and outside services to complete projects that require specific expertise or capabilities.
  • Inspect work areas and production schedules to determine the type of work, materials, equipment, and labor requirements for completion of equipment projects.
  • Ensure that completed work meets company standards and specifications.
  • Interpret company policies and enforce safety regulations to workers.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet schedules and increase efficiency of work crews.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, bulldozers, and graders, and train workers in equipment operation.
  • Perform activities of workers supervised as needed.
  • Review installation equipment orders or schedules to ascertain resources necessary to complete projects on time.
  • Plan and implement equipment and facility design upgrades and maintenance.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in a relevant lead role and 5 years of maintenance experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
Competencies
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Planning/Organizing: Prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; plan for additional resources; set goals and objectives; organize or schedule other people and their tasks; develop realistic action plans.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Computer Skills: Web/internet research on equipment specs and email outlook.
  • Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Must complete BFS safety training.
Work Environment/Physical Activity
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit, and occasionally required to stand and/or walk.
  • The employee is routinely required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and talk or hear.
