Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Research Assistant to join our dynamic team. As a Research Assistant, you will play a crucial role in advancing regenerative medicine through diverse approaches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct experiments and meticulously document data following research protocols.
  • Analyze data, assess its validity, and perform statistical and graphical data analysis when necessary.
  • Assist in managing and caring for the laboratory's animal colonies, including genotyping and monitoring the physiological performance of animal models.
  • Maintain various transgenic mouse lines within the lab.
  • Take responsibility for the preoperative and postoperative care of research animals.
  • Manage fibroblast cell cultures, cardiomyocyte isolations, inductions, and in vitro cell culture, as well as conduct left coronary artery ligation procedures to create myocardial infarction models.
  • Apply research principles to fewer complex tasks.
  • Undertake additional duties as required by the department to meet its evolving needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Work Environment

The Research Assistant will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, collaborating with a team of researchers and scientists. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
