The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Skilled Care unit at Northern Maine Medical Center. This includes assessing, implementing, and evaluating the care provided to residents, ensuring that staff provide the necessary care and services to maintain the highest practical physical, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being of residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend and give morning report to stay current on changes from day to day, shift to shift.
  • Complete skilled assessments and check on patients with changes in condition.
  • Verify staffing assignments and make adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure breakfast trays are distributed timely and residents needing assistance are fed.
  • Complete skin checks and document.
  • Document all pain assessments and issues reported.
  • Access electronic Care Plan to be aware of residents' individualized needs.
  • Supervise CNA staff and ensure their duties are completed.
  • Verify medication and supply expirations dates.
  • Do walk-throughs to ensure resident rooms are safe and clutter-free.
  • Complete transfer forms and admission paperwork.
  • Work closely with the Charge Nurse to report problematic areas.

Requirements:

  • Nursing Degree or Diploma from an accredited college or university.
  • Current, valid license to practice as an RN in the State of Maine.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years' experience in an acute hospital setting or prior experience working in a Nursing Home.
  • Leadership and supervisory abilities.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
