About the Role

Rinnai America Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer, Water Heating Solutions to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading the planning and execution of engineering analysis, product design, and development for commercial and residential water heating products and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute the planning of engineering analysis, product design, and development for commercial and residential water heating products and systems that meet and exceed product/program requirements.
  • Lead the development of test plans, including application development, field testing, certification, and reliability assessment.
  • Collaborate with product performance and certification teams to ensure products meet and exceed performance and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and document technical data generated for assigned projects.
  • Provide technical direction and engineering analysis to ensure successful product development.
  • Act as a mentor and interface with other engineers, assisting with multiple assignments as needed.
  • Develop, assist, review, and approve the development of technical literature for Rinnai water heating products.
  • Embrace new product development processes and practices.
  • Support a collaborative environment and drive knowledge sharing throughout the engineering group.
  • Actively develop new product applications and/or product solutions to support marketplace growth of Rinnai.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in engineering applications and product development fields related to gas-fired consumer products, specifically commercial water heating systems, tankless water heaters, and other water heating products.
  • Understanding of CSA, DOE, AHRI, Energy Star, and ANSI standards, processes, and testing methods and requirements related to commercial water heating, tankless water heaters, and other water heating products.
  • Strong experience with mechanical systems and water heating product development and application.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D software.
  • Experience developing products via New Product Development process (Stage Gate Process).
Preferred Skills
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven product development experience.
  • Ability to develop and execute objectives for self and others.
  • Technical proficiency in gas product field.
  • Highly developed planning and organizational skills, together with the ability to effectively prioritize.
  • Ability to communicate with and motivate a wide range of engineering teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of Certification standards as they apply to gas-fired products.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design of Experiment.
