We're seeking a friendly, patient-focused, and detail-oriented Practice Assistant to join our team at Bedford Hills Pediatrics, part of Optum. As a Practice Assistant, you'll play a critical role in supporting the care team to deliver excellent customer service and adhere to Lean processes to meet financial, clinical, and service goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Obtain accurate and updated patient information, including name, address, and insurance details
  • Perform insurance verification on the date of service
  • Obtain patient signatures for required documents
  • File and maintain medical records
  • Confirm and schedule appointments
  • Follow the Cash Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines
  • Perform referral documentation promptly
  • Perform certain follow-up services for patients in a prompt and courteous manner, such as scheduling specialist appointments
  • Adhere to the standards identified via Sparq regarding Optum Employee Policies
  • Work cohesively with fellow employees to achieve specific team goals
  • Assure the continuity of care through scheduling and tracking systems
  • Provide effective communication to patient/family team members and other healthcare professionals
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare-related experience
  • Intermediate computer proficiency (multi-tasking through multiple applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word)
