Security Officer

Sutter Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer to join our team. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough interior and exterior building and ground patrols to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism of property.
- Communicate incidents of unusual circumstances to the Nursing Supervisor, House Supervisor, and Administrative Nursing Supervisor immediately.
- Perform security checks on doors, windows, and locks to determine the level of security.
- Secure or unlock all facility doors/entrances at specified facility times.
- Courteously question all persons on facility premises after visiting hours and demonstrate good judgment in routing or detaining unauthorized persons.
- Escort visitors, patients, and personnel to-and-from facility parking areas in a timely manner.
- Inspect outgoing parcels and equipment to prevent theft of facility and employee property.
- Maintain continuous and courteous radio contact with fellow security officers.
- Review daily Pass-Down Log and complete entries accurately.
- Inspect all Security Services Department equipment in accordance with departmental policy.
- Demonstrate good judgment and maintain confidentiality while using electronic security equipment.
- Inspect elevators and interior fire escape stairwells to ensure they are well lit and free of obstructions.
- Understand and demonstrate good judgment while following the proper guidelines for Use of Force.
- Comply with affiliate and Security Services Department policies and procedures.
- Continually use time to departments best advantage, filling in with additional projects, monitoring video screens, staffing podium entrance booth, parking lot booths, etc.
- Provide a security presence within the ED for individuals, hospital personnel, County mental health personnel, and the general public.
- Interact compassionately and support high-risk patients during their time in the ED.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound judgments in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous security experience preferred.
