We are seeking a skilled Coating Technician to join our team at FM Industries. As a Coating Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our thermal spray coatings.
Key Responsibilities- Process parts according to established Work Instructions (WI) and Standard Practice Instructions (SPIs).
- Inspect components for damage and coating quality, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Operate a variety of tools and equipment, including measurement devices, calipers, and blasting equipment, while following established safety policies and procedures.
- Successfully achieve certification in blasting, masking, and part coating measurements, and maintain certification through ongoing training and development.
- Use and interpret pre and post-coating measurement tools to ensure accurate and consistent results.
- Accurately fill out and file all required paperwork, including work orders and quality control documentation.
- Ensure an accurate router accompanies all work orders, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Follow all quality and safety requirements, including environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations, and company policies and accepted safe work practices.
- High school diploma, GED equivalent, or technical school education.
- Reliable attendance and excellent communication skills, with the ability to read and interpret documents written in standard English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to perform daily tasks with little supervision, and take legible written notes and document processes.
- Ability to differentiate shades and color to identify coating defects, and handle delicate parts.
Regularly exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts, ovens, and risk of burns. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. High noise levels from operating machines. The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment.
