Orthopaedic Care Specialist

Rothman Orthopaedics is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (PA or NP) to join our team in Glen Mills, PA. This position will support our Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Physicians and require travel to our offices in Media and Malvern.
- Assist physician during office hours, in satellite offices, and during hospital rounds to ensure timely patient flow.
- Participate in all aspects of patient care, including evaluating and treating patients with acute orthopaedic or postoperative problems.
- Perform hospital rounds for inpatients and provide coverage with evaluation, treatment, and documentation of service for patients requiring orthopaedic care.
- Participate in and contribute to orthopaedic educational activities for hospital nursing and physical therapy staff.
- Assist physician during office hours, including preoperative and postoperative instructions, and respond to incoming telephone calls.
- Dictate and document all patient encounters, including Medical Necessity letters and forms for Workmans Comp. and Disability.
- Discuss patient care and necessary home equipment with Homecare Nurse and prepare discharge letters and make post-op calls to referring physicians.
- Review charts preoperatively and document any pertinent information, and rotate with residents and fellow nurses and PAs covering the RI on-call schedules.
- Write, fax, and/or phone in prescriptions for patients and liaison between RI physician and outside consulting physicians regarding patient care.
- Assist physician during hospital rounds with post-op patients and with research as needed, and exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
- Active Pennsylvania Physician Assistant licensure and active CPR certification.
- Prior orthopaedic APP experience required, spine experience preferred.
