CDL Yard Jockey Job Description

At US Foods, we are seeking a skilled CDL Yard Jockey to join our team. As a CDL Yard Jockey, you will be responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer combination to transport goods within our yard and to external locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Communicate with dispatchers and routers to receive truck and trailer assignments.
  • Keep assigned equipment coupled and ready for operation.
  • Move trailers between buildings as directed by the router or warehouse supervisor.
  • Load, unload, or merge loads between environments.
  • Stage shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers.
  • Set up trailers for backhaul with tractor and empty pallets.
  • Place backhauls in the correct door to be unloaded by the warehouse.
  • Ensure all equipment is paired and ready for the next day's deliveries.
  • Work with mechanics nightly.
  • Attend all required company meetings.
Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 20 to 80+ pounds of product repetitively during each shift.
  • Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions.
